Centrally located, The Edge – Baldivis is a unique residential development, close to the heart of the shopping precinct of Baldivis.

Setting the development apart, landscape elements within the open spaces are characterised by a unique aesthetic, incorporating rustic exposed brickwork, exposed beams, and earthy material palette, which continues through the reserve facilities, custom nature playground and other bespoke landscape elements. The unique character and material palette provided a great opportunity for Altiform who was able to assist with a number of the custom components including entry statement, feature deck, landmark shelter, Iron filter enclosures and custom maze.

A bold entry statement crafted in concrete, corten and stainless steel leads to this impressive development. Altiform provided the laser cut corten weathering steel to be cast into the concrete, and fabricated the large 3 dimensional stainless steel signage.

Altiform constructed a custom steel feature shelter within the expansive parkland at the centre of this development. The unique shelter incorporates rustic brickwork, exposed beams, aluminium screen and vine trellis components, and also features figurative artworks by one of Perth’s top street artists Stormie Mills.

This large dual shelter is ideal for large groups to assemble, incorporating a number of picnic settings and seating opportunities and lending itself to community parties with the custom playground and kick about area nearby. The reserve also includes two Christie Barbecues, which are bricked in to tie in with the landscape aesthetic and rounds off the essentials for a neighbourhood picnic node perfectly.

The range of ‘play’ components also extends beyond the custom play areas, and also incorporates a custom designed maze, made up of a series of large free standing aluminium panels, that featured playful “children at play” silhouettes which we achieved with varied hole punching patterns.

Although projects are often challenged with tight time constraints, this great project was delivered on time through the close cooperative working relationships of all involved.
