Enhanced as part of the City of Perth’s ‘Forgotten Spaces – Revitalising Perth’s Laneways’ strategy, Howard Lane was upgraded in 2009 as part of the ongoing program for reactivating underutilised spaces within the urban fabric.

The Howard Lane enhancement, saw the space transformed from a utility area with the upgrade of lighting, paving and the addition of artwork. Altiform contributed to the upgrade, by embellishing the space with four beautiful, urban chandeliers.

Designed with the City of Perth’s overall concept, Altiform detailed and manufactured the outdoor chandeliers with delicate tiers of lightweight, anodised aluminium chain, minimising the overall weight of the suspended lights.

The Howard Lane upgrade received recognition in its success in encouraging activation and utilisation of utility areas, and received an award in design in 2010 from the WA branch of Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).
